About John:

John Slabbert graduated in 2007 from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a degree in Nature Conservation.  He went on to work as a researcher with our project, living and working in the bush for several years.  John headed up research on the effects Elephants have on tree species, and his research collecting data on giraffes killed by running into telephone cables has gotten the utility poles heightened in numerous reserves to protect their giraffes from electrocution.  John immigrated to the United States, and started our internship program to allow students from the US and the rest of the world the unique opportunity to further their conservation experience and learn first hand in the field the reality of African Conservation.
